CAA 5th Aug 2015

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) today confirmed that some of the UK’s existing exemptions from the Standardised European Rules of the Air (SERA) will continue. The CAA will continue to work closely with the European Commission, European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and UK Department for Transport (DfT) regarding the development and implementation of SERA.

As part of this ongoing activity, the UK has extended an existing exemption allowing arrangements for flying clear of cloud within Class D and E airspace. These arrangements will now continue until February 2016.

In a separate development, the UK’s exemption from certain aspects of SERA’s Special VFR requirements has been extended until June 2016.

Each of the renewed exemptions can be found on the CAA website at www.caa.co.uk/ors4.

Detailed information concerning SERA can be found on the CAA’s SERA web pages at www.caa.co.uk/sera. This includes links to the SERA regulation and supporting EASA material, which can also be found at easa.europa.eu/regulations.
